Chester County Hospital’s NICU Receives $1.25 Million Donation from Women’s Auxiliary

The Women’s Auxiliary to Chester County Hospital is donating $1.25 million for improvements to the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit, writes Monica Sager for the Daily Local News.

“It’s amazing the amount of money these women raise,” said Marie Robinson, president of the Women’s Board to Chester County Hospital.

Now in its 125th year, the group serves the community and the hospital. With more than 300 volunteer members across 10 branches, the organization usually raises around $600,000 a year.

This donation is for the renovation and expansion of the hospital’s NICU and will add three beds to the current 12. After the expansion is complete, the NICU will also include private and family transition rooms.

According to Dr. Lisa Drinker, associate medical director in the NICU, this means that they can “keep just about every baby in the community.”

“We could not care for the babies without the Women’s Auxiliary,” said Drinker.

The renovations are expected to be finalized by the end of fall.
