Biotech Companies Distance Themselves from Party Organized by Malvern-Based Consulting Group

Companies at the annual meeting of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) are distancing themselves from a party in Boston organized by Malvern-based C14 Consulting Group that many believe crossed the line, write Naomi Kresge and Jared Hopkins for Bloomberg.

The name of the event – Party At BIO Not Associated With BIO, or PABNAB – is meant to indicate its detachment from the trade organization. It featured topless dancers’ bodies painted with the logos of sponsors.

“How in the world would they imagine this could be a good idea?” said Pierre Vannineuse, CEO of Alpha Blue Ocean, one of the companies that was “advertised.”

Martina Molsbergen, the owner of C14 Consulting Group, said that she was not offended by the dancers and that no one complained. She said that previous parties had also included topless dancers and the logos on their bodies were “an expression of art and marketing.”
