Tori’s Time: Getting Organized Is Possible

By

So it’s Spring and I’m supposed to be Organized by Now……

But almost like that New Year’s Resolution, getting organized can be a frustrating resolution of promises to yourself.

But, hold on, take a breath and let’s take it one step at a time.

It takes a commitment of time and energy to get and stay organized, but the rewards so outweigh any excuse you have.

First, and most importantly, you need to make a specific date with yourself on your calendar.  Yes, we are all busy but you spend too much time trying to find things or picking the same thing up four times trying to figure out where to put it.

Imagine a space where everything has a place; each piece of paper, article, tool or clothing has a home. I know I can hear you sigh from here but it truly is possible (unless you live with teenagers and that’s another article).

Start small.  Just fifteen minutes. Pick the pile right in front of you (yes, move the other piles aside).  It’s a keep, toss or recycle.  And you can only touch it ONCE.

Create a simple system.  It has to be your system.  And keep at it.  You control your stuff, it doesn’t have to control you.

Now make another date with yourself on your calendar.
