Thousands of people gathered at Sly Fox Brewery in Pottstown to enjoy bock-style beers and watch goats race, writes Bethany Ao for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Sly Fox Bock Fest and Goat Races, an event held annually on the first Sunday in May, marked the release of Sly Fox’s popular beer Maibock.

Throughout the day, the visitors sipped beer and enjoyed foods from a German-inspired menu. Between the races, the band played German oompah music.

Sixty goats participated in races this year, all vying for the honor of having the Maibock named after them. Brian O’Reilly, Sly Fox’s brewmaster, said the naming tradition also brings in other brewers hoping to force Sly Fox to name a beer after one of its competitors.

This year, the crown was claimed by a two-year-old pygmy goat named Princess Jenny.

“This is our first year racing,” said owner Brad White. “I didn’t even know she could run this fast, but she was amazing.”
