Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry

The CCCBI recently hosted a special graduation ceremony for the Youth Leadership Program, which focuses on creating business educational opportunities for high school students in Chester County in grades 10-12. Through a series of educational sessions, activities, and group participation, students gain first-hand knowledge of local and national issues influencing the world around them.

The dinner celebration took place at the Sheraton Great Valley, and keynote speaker Steve Voudouris, the CEO of Turn5, emphasized tenacity and not being afraid of failure in addressing the students.

“Give things a try because that’s how you’re going to get ahead,” he said. “Very rarely do people sit in a room and come up with an absolutely brilliant idea, and that was their first idea, and have it turn into a massive business.”

CCIU Practical Nursing Program

Friends and family recently gathered to congratulate 13 newly licensed practical nurses (LPNs) on their graduation from the Chester County Intermediate Unit’s Practical Nursing Program.

The graduates were composed of part-time students from the Downingtown program and are the eighth part-time class to graduate from the Downingtown program.

Katie Perine was the cohort’s valedictorian, and Christina Kelly was its salutatorian. Its president, LaCora Clayton, led the graduates in reciting the Practical Nursing Pledge.

Gawthrop Greenwood

The law firm recently celebrated the relocation of its Greater Wilmington office with a ribbon-cutting ceremony overseen by the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce.

Now located at 3711 Kennett Pike in Greenville, Del., Gawthrop Greenwood moved its office less than a quarter of a mile from its previous location to accommodate growth, while remaining at the heart of the business district at routes 52 and 141.

“It was important to us to remain within this business district, ideally situated within minutes of the courts in downtown Wilmington, but also providing easy access for suburban businesses and area residents,” said Mary Ann Plankinton, a partner at Gawthrop Greenwood and chair of the firm’s Greenville office. “This location is also attractive to a talented and qualified workforce. New attorneys want to live and work in this wonderful area.”
