Vanguard Feted with 29 Trophies for Its Strong Risk-Adjusted Performance
Vanguard, the Malvern-based investment giant, was the No. 1 winner at this year’s Thomson Reuters Lipper Awards, writes Jeff Benjamin for InvestmentNews magazine.
The annual awards honor funds and fund-management firms that excel in providing consistently strong risk-adjusted performance.
Vanguard won 29 trophies, awarded to 14 different mutual funds. It edged out Baltimore-based T. Rowe Price, which won 26 trophies, awarded to 19 different funds.

Boston-based Fidelity Investments finished third with 22 trophies awarded to 18 funds.
“We are really paying attention to risk avoidance, because we know investors hate downside performance,” said Tom Roseen, head of research services at Lipper. “We are looking at high risk-adjusted returns.”
Vanguard funds earning high marks were spread across multiple asset categories and leaned more heavily in various fixed-income categories.
