Sartomer, Meridian Bank Accept United Way Color 5K Team Challenge

By

Employees of Meridian Bank, above, and Sartomer, below, and their families supported the United Way of Chester County Color 5K Run & Walk last year and will do so again this year.

The United Way of Chester County is bringing back its popular Color 5K Run & Walk on April 29 at the unique location of the Brandywine Airport Runway in West Chester.

Presented by Brandywine Hospital/Tower Health and Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., this fundraiser has already sold out of sponsorships at record levels in the event’s five-year history.

As a way for additional companies and businesses to support the event that benefits the United Way of Chester County’s Financial Stability Center, the United Way has put out a Corporate Challenge, asking companies to consider paying the nominal entry fee for any of their employees to participate in the Run & Walk.

For the second year, Sartomer and Meridian Bank have accepted the challenge and will be fielding teams of employees for the event.

The Run & Walk, which is geared for all ages and abilities, gives participants the unique opportunity to have fun on an airport runway with a backdrop of planes and helicopters. The flat course includes color stations where participants are sprayed with a rainbow of neon-colored corn starch and confetti. The race is untimed and evenly split between walkers and runners. However, there will be a clock at the finish for those who want to know their time.

“We invite companies big and small to step up to our Corporate Challenge by rallying their employees to participate,” said Claudia Hellebush, President and CEO of the United Way of Chester County. “It is a great team-building opportunity while helping people in the community to become financially stable and self-sufficient.”

“Our employees and their families had so much fun last year that we are shooting for an even bigger team of 50 or more this year,” said Kenny Messer, Sartomer’s President. “It is great comradery for a great cause.”

“We are especially happy to participate again this year since we know the proceeds will benefit people in our community,” said Chris Annas, CEO of Meridian Bank.

The race begins at 2 PM but participants can come as early as 12:30 PM for pre-race activities. Registration is now open here.

Due to the generosity of sponsors, every penny of race registrations benefits the United Way of Chester County’s Financial Stability Center.
