Phoenixville Region Multimodal Transportation Plan

The Chester County Planning Commission is inviting residents in the Phoenixville region to attend a meeting to learn about and comment on a draft plan that will address transportation issues and opportunities.

Nearly 84 percent of residents in this area currently commute to work by driving alone. This creates significant congestion on local roads, and this draft plan looks at ways to diversify transportation modes in the Phoenixville region.

The meeting will take place from 5-8 PM on Feb. 15 at the Technical College High School – Pickering Campus. Click here for more information.

Basciani Mushroom Farms

Avondale-based Basciani Mushroom Farms is expanding, writes Jim Offner for The Packer.

“We’re building new-style farms for possible automation and a processing grade, and figure we’ll harvest all day and hand-pick for the fresh market,” said Michael Basciani, chief operations officer. “Like everybody, labor is the real big issue for us.”

The project, which commenced two years ago, will take five years and add about 600,000 square feet to the company’s production facility.
