The West Chester University men’s basketball team is now garnering national recognition, as the undefeated Golden Rams are ranked No. 23 among the top NCAA Division II teams.

WCU, coached by Damien Blair, is 11-0 overall and 7-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) this season.

Philadelphia native Tyrell Long leads the Golden Rams in scoring with 20.2 points per game, and Kennett High School graduate Jackson Hyland averages 17.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per outing. Both players shoot 55 percent from the floor.

WCU eked out a 75-73 win over regional rival Millersville last Wednesday night, when Abington High School product Matt Penecale drilled a fadeaway jumper in the final seconds.

The Golden Rams return to action on Saturday at 4 PM at Hollinger Field House against Mansfield.
