School District Salutes State-Champion Marching Band from Avon Grove High School

In celebration of the USBands-sanctioned Pennsylvania State Championship in Group 4A they recently won at Lincoln University, Avon Grove High School’s 96 marching band members, under the direction of Michael Davino, stopped by each of the district’s schools to parade through the halls.
The procession was led by a five-foot trophy and a rallying drumline, rousing students out of classrooms for cheering, high fives, and dancing.
The students in Avon Grove’s marching band began rehearsals in April 2017 in preparation for the competition, as they met throughout the summer and then at least twice a week during the school year.

With a long list of competition wins across the state, the band showed dedication, sacrifice, teamwork, and commitment. It swept every category, including:
- Best Music
- Best Visual
- Best Overall Effect
- Best Color Guard
- Best Percussion
“We are very proud of all the hard work that they’ve done, and even more excited that the students got this payoff in the end,” said Davino.
“Winning a state championship doesn’t happen overnight,” said Avon Grove Athletic Director Vanessa Robtison. “Looking at this achievement is a reminder that hard work does pay off.”
