Berwyn’s BrandShare is taking advantage of the boom in e-commerce by providing free in-package gifts to customers who do their shopping online, writes Diane Mastrull for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

“Who doesn’t like free?” asked Craig Kapilow, senior director of brand partnerships and integrated marketing at Rue La La.

Family-run BrandShare is believed to be the world’s first and biggest media and e-commerce sampling company. It provides 74 million value-added product inserts each month and expects to achieve revenue of between $40 million and $50 million this year.

The company currently employs 54 people, mostly split between its Berwyn and New York City locations. BrandShare’s other three offices are in Bentonville, Ark., San Francisco, and Chicago.

The company was founded in 1984 by Dick Guyer and his son Doug. Since 2013, BrandShare has enjoyed triple-digit growth, earning it an Inc. 5000 spot earlier this year.

The growth is likely to continue, as e-commerce in the U.S. is projected to reach $700 billion this year, around $34 billion of which will be product sampling.

And Guyer has no intention of slowing down as there are still “another 20,000 brands that need to know about us!”
