Pennsylvania’s Animal Diagnostic Laboratory System, which includes Penn Vet’s New Bolton Center in Kennett Square, has been awarded a national quality credential, according to a report in Farm and Dairy.

PADLS also draws on the resources of two more labs, the Pennsylvania Veterinary Laboratory and Penn State’s Animal Diagnostic Laboratory. All three have now been accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians. This puts Pennsylvania into an exclusive club of other states with laboratories that have earned such a distinction.

PADLS labs regularly take part in programs for animal disease control and eradication. They also assist with regulatory testing on the movement of animals and animal material on the local, interstate, and international level.

Also, the New Bolton Center performs toxicology services for the state’s equine industry. These services are often used for microbiology, avian medicine and pathology, and large animal pathology.

The New Bolton Center, a teaching hospital, also offers high-quality, veterinary-care facilities for animals of all types.
