Perhaps now more than ever, America is in a state of transition.

The things we do, the way we do them, and the impact they have are changing. Rapidly.

Whether it’s the economy, education, energy, or entertainment, the change is happening all around us.

Transition is the theme of VISTA Today’s Suburban Philadelphia Speaker Series, which debuts on Wednesday, Oct. 4, when Brian Selander – the Entrepreneur in Residence at SeventySix Capital, a leading venture capital firm based in Radnor – visits People’s Light and Theatre in Malvern.

Selander, who has been described as “a true architect of change,” helps his firm stay ahead of emerging developments across industries. In his prior work, he was instrumental in the growth of Whistle Sports, a global sports media company for millennial sports fans, to more than 270 million aggregate fans, followers, and subscribers across social media and digital platforms.

Given his experience, Selander is uniquely positioned to discuss the explosion of eSports and how it exemplifies a transitioning society. Video gaming has experienced massive growth in just the last few years, having transcended its niche and broken through to the mainstream. What once was a subculture has surged in popularity and is now a spectator sport on par with any other.

In fact, dozens of colleges – including Miami (Ohio) and UC-Irvine – currently field eSports programs, offering scholarships to “student-athletes” who dream of playing video games for their career.

Also, the Washington Post recently reported that the Olympic bid committee in Paris, which is expected to host the 2024 Summer Games, is mulling the addition of video gaming to the agenda of more than 30 athletic events.

The Speaker Series continues on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when journalist and author McKay Coppins takes the stage at People’s Light.

Coppins is a staff writer for The Atlantic, as well as a regular contributor to CNN and MSNBC. The BYU graduate burst onto the scene with BuzzFeed in 2012, covering the presidential election and becoming an important source on Governor Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith.

Years later, in the run-up to the 2016 presidential primaries, Coppins became embroiled in a public Twitter feud with Donald Trump. Now, Coppins has 111,000 Twitter followers.

He’s also the author of The Wilderness: Deep Inside the Republican Party’s Combative, Contentious, Chaotic Quest to Take Back the White House.

On Nov. 15, the well-respected political pundit, who has been called “a dogged reporter and a deft storyteller,” will discuss the transitions in our highest levels of government and what that means for us.

Don’t miss your chance to listen and learn from these two renowned thought leaders. Gain insight into how emerging trends will impact your organization and how other companies are embracing them to grow their businesses.
