Nonprofits are dedicated to serving our community, but realize daily the challenges of maintaining a viable business that is responsive to the population’s needs. Their executives look to volunteer boards for vision, strategic planning, and resource development to accomplish their mission.

Through a unique program of the United Way of Chester County, businesses can encourage talented team members to serve the community while building their leadership skills.

Leadership Chester County is a premier professional development and community engagement opportunity designed to foster a vibrant, safe, and inclusive community. Participants explore complex social and community issues, develop leadership potential, form lasting professional relationships, and connect to many nonprofits seeking board members to lead their organizations into a strong future.

Graduates bring back to their organizations valuable business, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills. They explore Chester County’s socioeconomic landscape to learn community needs. They also earn six Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through West Chester University and qualify to meet Level I of the Certified Public Manager designation.

“The program has opened doors for many people in our area who wanted to help out and give back to the community but didn’t know how,” said David Farrington, Managing Partner at West Chester’s Brickhouse Environmental and a member of LCC’s Class of 2002.

“While the program has ultimately been of great value to the needy in our community, it has also provided the opportunity for tremendous personal and professional growth for those who wish to serve.”

There are still openings for Leadership Chester County’s Class of 2018.
