Congressmen, Park Advocates to Announce Preservation Victory at Brandywine Battlefield

On Friday, Sept. 15, U.S. Congressmen Patrick Meehan and Ryan Costello will join national and local conservation leaders for an exciting preservation announcement on the historic Brandywine Battlefield.

This month marks the 240th anniversary of the battle, fought in September 1777. The news conference is being hosted by Campaign 1776, a national initiative of the Civil War Trust to protect battlefields of the American Revolution, and the Brandywine Battlefield Task Force.

Joining Meehan and Costello at the event will be Civil War Trust President O. James Lighthizer; Chester County Board of Commissioners Chair Michelle H. Kichline; Brandywine Battlefield Task Force Chair and Brandywine Battlefield Park Associates Education Director Andrew Outten; and Natural Lands President Molly Morrison.

The 1st Delaware Infantry Regiment will fire a musket salute, and play fife and drum music.
