Malvern Federal Savings Bank

The Paoli-based Malvern Bancorp, parent company of Malvern Federal Savings Bank, has reported operating results for the third fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2017.

“Our results this quarter were strong, reflecting our intense client focus and solid performance across our businesses,” said Anthony C. Weagley, President and CEO of Malvern Bancorp. “We are pleased to report third quarter net income of $2.1 million, which increased 30.8 percent from a year ago. The quarter benefited from continued top line revenue growth, restraint of operating overhead, and an improvement in the net interest margin compared to the same period in fiscal 2016.”

For the nine months ended June 30, 2017, net income amounted to $4.7 million, or $0.72 per fully diluted common share, compared with net income of $4.2 million, or $0.66 per fully diluted common share, for the nine months ended June 30, 2016.

“Loan balances increased in all areas of loans: residential mortgage as well as commercial and industrial lending, and commercial real estate, reflecting our diversified business mix,” said Weagley. “We remain successful gathering deposits across the franchise as evidenced by the growth in deposits of $157.6 million compared to September 30, 2016.”

West Chester University

WCU has been named one of this year’s “Great Colleges to Work For” by The Chronicle of Higher Education, a prominent news source dedicated to covering national higher education issues. The results are based on an employee survey conducted at 232 institutions nationwide. The survey is the largest and most comprehensive workplace study in higher education, and recognizes universities and colleges that earn top ratings from their employees on workforce practices and policies.

Of the 232 institutions that participated in the 2017 survey, 79 have been recognized as a 2017 Great College to Work For. Results are reported for large, medium, and small institutions, with WCU included among the large universities with 10,000 or more students. WCU achieved distinction in the category of “Tenure Clarity & Process (4-year colleges only).”

“West Chester University is a great college to work for because of our shared goal of advancing student success in an environment where everyone contributes and everyone matters,” said WCU President Christopher M. Fiorentino.
