An Exton technology pioneer has literally set its sights on visualizing the future of how companies drill for shale gas, and PetroMar Technologies’ resulting FracView borehole imaging tool just hit its mark as a $20,000 winner of the Sixth Annual Shale Gas Innovation Contest.

One of just three grand prize winners, PetroMar was recognized for commercializing its low-cost, high-quality FracView imaging technology, according to a Pittsburgh Business Times report by Paul Gough.

“We are honored to have our new FracView product recognized with this award,” said PetroMar Vice President of Business Development Earle Drack. “Technical innovation and the resulting increases in efficiency and reductions in cost continue to drive the growth and competitiveness of unconventional (oil and gas), and of U.S. shale gas in particular.”

The awards were judged by an expert panel assembled by the Ben Franklin Shale Gas Innovation and Commercialization Center.

“Continuous innovation is advancing every aspect of how the oil and gas industry operates, and uncovering these novel technologies is exactly what the Shale Gas Innovation Contest is all about,” said center director Bill Hall.
