Side Bar’s Shave Off Supports Cancer Patients in the Community

By

The well-bearded bartenders, servers, and other Side Bar & Restaurant staffers, along with their charity-minded patrons and friends, will learn whose beard is the crowd favorite — and who raised the most money — during the Shave Off for SHINE on Saturday from 3-5 PM.

This is the fourth time the Side Bar has teamed up with local salons to raise money for Chester County Hospital’s SHINE program, a volunteer organization that provides vital services for patients living with cancer.

SHINE assists by funding a care coordinator or nurse navigator to assist with accessing services, transportation to and from treatment, fitness and personal training memberships, workshops and support groups, and, thanks to the generosity of participating salons, a complimentary one-hour massage and complimentary wig fitting.

The program also offers possible direct financial support, anti-nausea medication reimbursements, and/or physical therapy co-pays for those who qualify.

Shave Off for SHINE participants started their facial hair-growing journey on Feb. 4, when they showed up to Side Bar, clean-shaven, to have their pictures taken and enter the contest. Since then, they’ve been letting their beards grow, spreading the word, and raising awareness to encourage everyone they know to choose them as “favorite beard” through donations.

All will be revealed tomorrow, and all are welcome to join in on the fun!

Side Bar will offer drink specials and complimentary hors d’oeuvres, plus a D.J. will spin tunes to get the crowd going in anticipation of the big shave-off outside the restaurant. Prizes will be awarded to the team with the most money raised and the best beard.
