SCORE Offers Small Business Educational Workshops for First Time in Delaware County

By

Chester and Delaware County SCORE will be offering, for the first time in Delaware County, “How to Start and Operate a Small Business” and “Business Planning – a Series of Four Workshops.”

These workshops will be held at the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce at 1001 Baltimore Pike, Suite 9LL, in Springfield.

How to Start and Operate a Small Business

Learn how to start and operate a small business and how to succeed.

“Although each year thousands of businesses are created,” said SBAC Director Frank P. Farmer Jr., “most entrepreneurs are not familiar with the ‘nuts and bolts’ of starting and operating their businesses. This seminar is designed to familiarize entrepreneurs with the concepts and terminology needed in the start-up and daily operation of a small business.”

If you are thinking about “becoming your own boss,” this is a chance to get an overview of the things you need to know and the skills you need to have. In fact, even if you have started up your business and realized you missed a few things, this seminar is a must attend for you.

This workshop will be held on Tuesday, March 21 from 6-8:30 PM. Click here to register.

Business Planning – A Series of Four Workshops

It all begins with a solid business plan. Whether you are just starting, growing, attracting financing, need to update, or adding new team members, the business plan sets the vision for the business, providing a roadmap for growth.

In four well-designed, time-proven sessions, experienced SCORE instructors will guide the entrepreneur to understanding “Business Concepts, Marketing, Financial Projections, and Financing of the Business.”

You will learn how to define and differentiate your products or services, identify your target markets and competition, develop pricing strategy, build solid pro-forma financial forecasts, and understand how to raise money for your business.

In the fourth session, you will get a workshop with a banker’s perspective and how a business plan is assessed during a loan application process. Presentation materials and a business plan template are provided.

These workshops will be held beginning on Wednesday, March 29 from 6-8:30 PM. Click here to register.
