Indulge in Desserts That Do Good at Chester County Community Foundation’s Sweet Charity

By

There’s no guilt in indulging in the grandest desserts around when every bite makes Chester County a better place.

And that’s precisely the scene at the Chester County Community Foundation’s upcoming Sweet Charity fundraiser on Monday, March 20 at the Whitford Country Club in Exton.

When you whip up nine of the county’s sweetest chefs for a mouthwatering culinary competition, dessert never tasted so good. Entries range from classics to cutting-edge foodie trends. Past entries have included Maple Bacon Bread Pudding and Bacon Brownies at the beginning of the salty-sweet food rage; Lemon-Blueberry Coconut Tiny Pies as that mini-wave began. This year’s competition features newcomers and veterans alike, including:

  • Cakes & Candies by Maryellen
  • Carlino’s Specialty Foods
  • Delightful Desserts & Culinary Creations
  • Gemelli Artisanal Gelato & Dessert Café
  • General Warren Inne
  • Milito’s Restaurant & Bar
  • New Street Catering
  • John Serock Catering
  • Whitford Country Club

Who will win?

“I believe it’s about passion and creativity, and our Executive Chef, James Brunner, has all the tangibles to bring a dish to life and to provide that award-winning dessert,” said fresh new entrant Joe Milito.

He is most looking forward to “just being a first-timer and enjoying the opportunity to participate in such a great event that supports all that is good in helping others in their journey in life.”

Awards for Most Popular Dessert, Best Presentation, and Professional Judge’s Choice will ultimately be given out that evening.

“We are looking forward to seeing the best of the best in our area showcase their sweet treats,” said Whitford Country Club Director of Catering & Membership Sales Christina Ferriello. “Our Executive Chef, T.J., will be whipping up a delight as well!”

“Giving back is always worth it. While everyone will be here to have a good time and enjoy the desserts, they will also be donating and helping the community,” Ferriello said. “Without the passion and drive of organizations like the Chester County Community Foundation, there would be too many people in the world who give up hope for a better life, a brighter tomorrow, a successful future.

“The importance of giving back does not change; whether you donate $1 or $10,000, you do what you can with what you have, and the outcome is just amazing. We are excited to be part of the festivities, and hope you will have a chance to see and experience Whitford Country Club.”
