Seedcopa_Vertical_logo_RGBYou may be aware that the Chester County Economic Development Council’s (CCEDC) SBA Certified Development Company affiliate, South Eastern Economic Development Company of Pennsylvania (Seedcopa), has evolved to become the statewide leader in SBA lending.

In fact, it was once again ranked the #1 Certified Development Company in the Greater Philadelphia Area this past year.

What you may not know is that Seedcopa also has Super Bowl tradition.

For the 5th straight year, the organization has hosted a “Souper Bowl” on the Friday before Super Bowl Sunday.  The entire CCEDC staff is invited to attend a luncheon which feature various soups and the “price of admission” is soup and/or crackers that will be donated to the Chester County Food Bank.

With the emphasis on soup, it is easy to see how the “Souper Bowl” got its name.

The idea for the first Souper Bowl came from Kathy McAfee, Loan Documentation and Servicing Specialist for Seedcopa.  She “thought it would be fun to play on the “soup” word and host a fun office event but more importantly, I wanted to make sure the food bank was stocked with soup and crackers during the winter months to keep bellies warm and full for area residents in need.”

Over the past five years, Kathy and her Seedcopa colleagues have made the soups that everyone enjoys and additional sides, snacks, drinks, and desserts are contributed by other staff.

She also programs the gathering by preparing trivia and games to add to the fun of getting the team together to share food and conversation.

Sherwood Robbins, Seedcopa’s Managing Director noted that “Kathy has done a great job coordinating this event year after year.

“In the past five years, this event has collected hundreds of pounds of food for the Chester County Food Bank and she and the rest of the Seedcopa team are to be congratulated on that accomplishment.”
