Pegasus TechnologiesMatthew Tucker, the CEO of Kennett Square’s Pegasus Technologies, couldn’t have summed up any better the sentiments of tens, if not hundreds, of millions of workers all across the globe.

“There’s nothing more frustrating than a broken computer,” he said.

Amen, Mr. Tucker. Amen.

Generally speaking, eliminating those frustrations is his life’s calling. Tucker and his staff of 24 are dedicated to solving any computer-related problems their clients may encounter. And they do so at a fraction of the cost it would require those clients to do themselves.

Pegasus Technologies specializes in disaster recovery, business continuity, desktop and server support, and computer monitoring, among other things. And being a partner of Microsoft gives its clients access to an advanced set of resources and upper-level technical support, the likes of which we’ve all pleaded for in those maddening moments when we’ve daydreamed of seeing if our computers can fly.

For the sophisticated services that it provides and its unparalleled commitment to customer satisfaction, Pegasus Technologies has been selected by the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry as its 2017 Small Business of the Year. Tucker and his company will be honored at an awards dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the White Manor Country Club in Malvern. Anyone may attend, as tickets for CCCBI members are $100 and tickets for non-members are $150.

“This is the entire staff’s award, not mine,” said Tucker. “It validates the company as a whole and the efforts we’ve put into building a strong leadership team and staff.

“We began as a company of three 14 years ago, and in that time, we’ve all worked very hard to create an infrastructure that would support the kind of growth we’ve since experienced.”

The minimum criteria for a business to be eligible for the Small Business of the Year Award is chamber membership and fewer than 75 employees. It is also necessary for a business to have been in operation for at least five years, to be successful in its industry, and to be active in the community.

“We’ve built a culture in which the people we work with feel like family,” said Tucker. “Everyone is happy to come to work.

“And that forms the basis of our approach to clients. We focus attention on the customer experience, not just the technology.”

For an example, Pegasus created Match-IT, because the company’s mantra is that the human connection in information technology is just as important to the system’s connection to the network.

Match-IT personalizes a client’s IT experience by bringing out the personality in Pegasus’s technicians and matching them to the client’s. This delivers the feeling of an intimate, small team with the benefits of a strong company behind it.

Overall, Pegasus is enabling like-sized companies to compete in the marketplace by offering its specialized services at a third of what it would cost those companies to provide on their own.

“We have fast response times, meticulous ticket tracking, and regular status meetings with the organizations we help,” said Tucker. “Simply put, it’s an easy, economical choice to hire Pegasus.”
