Despite its name that evokes a trip across the Atlantic, a home in an area with a beautiful preserve and access to one of the most sought-after school districts in the state is right here in Chester County, writes Alan Heavens for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

London Britain is spread out over a vast area, offering a diversity of neighborhoods that, in some cases, feel like those in a 1950s or ’60s television show. They are all also close to White Clay Creek Park, donated for preservation by DuPont Co. more than three decades ago.

However, supply is tight with only eight home purchases in the third quarter of this year at a median price of $462,500, up from $367,250 a year ago.

One of the biggest draws to the area is the Avon Grove School District. According to realtors, this is a magnet for home buyers.

“I do a lot of relocation business with people coming from all over the country to work in Newark and Wilmington, and even in Philadelphia,” said Jill Callahan, an agent with Coldwell Banker Preferred in Media. “Their goal is Avon Grove.”
