Wayne’s Evolve IP Acquires Regional Rival Xtium

By

Evolve IP, Wayne’s cloud-computing and communications innovator, has acquired its regional competitor, Xtium of King Prussia, for an undisclosed amount, writes Joseph DiStefano for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

This marks Evolve’s eighth acquisition since it was founded in 2007, and is the first since Boston’s Great Hill Partners bought a majority stake in the tech firm with a promise to boost acquisitions. Great Hill has provided $100 million to Evolve, earmarked for just this purpose.

The addition of Xtium’s cloud-based services for the healthcare industry is a smart move by Evolve, as they will fit seamlessly with the company’s Compliant Cloud platform, according to one of its co-founders, Guy Fardone.

Xtium CEO Tim Vogel agreed, stating that “joining Evolve IP will help Xtium reach new customers.”

Evolve employs around 200 people in the U.S., including 150 in the Philadelphia area, and claims 1,300 commecial users in 15 countries.
