During a recent event, Tim Holden, chairman of the Pensylvania Liquor Control Board, took the opportunity to address brewer’s concerns and answer questions about how liquor reform will affect sales of beer.

“We as brewers are a little bit concerned about the encroachment of wine products on some of our retail space,” said Bill Covaleski, president of The Brewers of Pennsylvania and brewmaster and president of Victory Brewing.

However, Holden said he did not see the addition of wine alongside beer products on supermarket and other retailer’s shelves as a disadvantage, but rather something to be embraced.

“We have more opportunities for farmers markets, for off-premises festivals and so forth, for brewers to take part in, so I think there is an opportunity for breweries to increase their products and sell their products all across the commonwealth,” pointed out Holden.
