Citadel-Logo-TopCitadel Federal Credit Union recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new Harleysville location in the new shopping area located in the strip along Harleysville Pike, writes Bob Keeler for Montgomery Media.

The ribbon-cutting was accompanied by an Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce business card exchange.

According to Chuck Hayes, market manager at the new branch, Citadel is also planning to open another branch this month in Ralph’s Corner shopping center located in Hatfield Township.

Citadel Federal Credit Union offers its customers traditional banking services, ranging from insurance and investments to money market and checking accounts.

However, Hayes, who worked in traditional banking for 18 years before joining the Chester County-based financial institution, emphasized that Citadel is a federal credit union. That makes it different from a bank, since, unlike with banks, a credit union’s profits go back to its members.

“A credit union is member-owned,” he said. “Rather than having shareholders, we have members.”
