As part of its strategy to exit the suburban office market and focus on industrial warehouse, distribution, and urban centers, Malvern’s Liberty Property Trust has closed a close to $1 billion sale of 108 properties in five markets to Workspace Property Trust. The properties which total around 7.6 million square feet are located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Arizona, Florida and Minnesota, however, Liberty will continue to own the buildings occupied by Vanguard Group in the Great Valley Corporate Center along with several redevelopment sites in the office park.
Bentley System
Exton’s Bentley Systems, the provider of comprehensive software solutions for advancing infrastructure, has appointed Claire Rutkowski as its Chief Information Officer. Formerly the CIO at MWH Global, Rutkowski will collaborate with executive and business leadership teams to make sure that Bentley leverages the most advanced technology solutions to accomplish the company’s business goals. “We are confident that Claire will energetically advance our IT organization and our cloud and managed services infrastructure to the next level,” said David Hollister, Bentley’s CFO.
Lincoln University
A bill proposed by U.S. Representative Jim Clyburn, that has already passed the House and been sent to a Senate committee, could secure federal funds to preserve historic buildings on Lincoln University’s campus. The measure would authorize an annual allocation of $10 million over the next seven years for the Black Colleges and University Historic Preservation Program. Maureen Stokes, Lincoln University’s Spokesperson, said the institution would be very interested in the funding, but added that more time was needed to identify which buildings would make the best projects.
Triumph Group
Berwyn’s aerospace manufacturer Triumph Group is moving its Missouri operations across the border to a new 156,000 square foot plant in Edgerton, Kansas. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new plant which will employ 180 people took place on Monday, in front of Kansas Governor Sam Brownback. “We thank the Triumph Group for their continued investment and long-term commitment to growing their operations in Kansas,” said Brownback.
