With an anticipated opening of late October or early November, La Cabra Brewing Company is one of the area’s most anticipated brewpub openings of 2016.

Located on Lancaster Avenue in Berwyn, the new brewpub will span two floors and house a full brewhouse, a basement containing over 100 American oak barrels, two bars each with a 12 tap draught system, and a full kitchen.

La Cabra's kitchen will be cranking out a Latin-American menu inspired by the owner's travel to South America and Spain.

Three partners are heading up the endeavor, Dan Popernack (Operating Partner and Brewer), Chuck Golder (General Manager), and John Hearn (chef).  The vision began with Popernack honing his brewing skills in the garage of his Malvern home for almost two years while he sought the perfect location.

La Cabra, which translated from Spanish means, “goat,” chose its name because “goats are intelligent, persistent, and fun.” Conveniently located across from the Berwyn train station, the operation is expected to employ 30-40 staff when it is fully operational.

The kitchen will be cranking out a Latin-American menu inspired by Popernack’s travel to South America and Spain.  “There’s a lot of untapped pairing potential with the beer world,” Popernack explains.

La Cabra’s goal is to offer an array of beverages for every palate.  From big beers to easy-drinking approachable beers, a local cider, and a PA bottled wine list guests will have a plethora of options available to them.

Berwyn has been making a transition from drive-through town on Lancaster Avenue to a true destination.  The recent addition of a pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks and continued commercial development were contributing factors to Popernack’s decision to land in the up and coming town.

Popernack vows to “bend over backwards to grow in Berwyn and work with the community.”
