Titled ‘Live Free or DIY: How To Get More Customers, Increase Profits, and Achieve Work-Life Balance As A Small Business Owner’, the book covers a wide range of topics that entrepreneurs should consider before starting a small business.

Rated by Inc. Magazine as one of the top five must read business books for budding entrepreneurs, the key message is that small business owners need to value their time carefully. To achieve this, the book encourages new business owners to ask “What am I doing to add the maximum amount of value to my startup for every dollar I spend and every hour I work?”

“We are quick to confuse cheap with efficient, and we are quick to do whatever it takes even if what it takes means taking out the garbage or mopping the floor,” writes Crawford in the book.

Among his solutions are keeping your existing job while growing the business to avoid getting in too deep, and utilizing every resource available. He also gives a shout out to SCORE of Chester County which has over 100 certified mentors who provide free advice on virtually every aspect of starting a new business.
