Southbound on Route 202 Now Open for Drivers

By

Three years of waiting are over for commuters on Route 202 between Exton and Malvern; three lanes of southbound traffic just opened up Tuesday afternoon.

The Transportation Management Association of Chester County announced the good news for the 2.5-mile stretch of Route 202 between Route 401 and U.S. 30, though TMACC also cautioned drivers to proceed carefully, as the highway is still an active construction zone and traffic patterns have been shifting.

“Please exercise caution and stay alert; there are new traffic patterns, as well as changes to on ramps, off ramps and the exit for Route 30 Bypass,” TMACC Manager of Corporate and Community Relations Jon Ewald said. “… Drivers should be particularly cautious Monday as everyone comes back from vacation and is not aware.”

A celebration of the reopening of Route 202 is slated for Friday, Aug. 12, at 1:30 p.m., when a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at the U.S. 30/Lancaster Avenue Park & Ride near the U.S. 30/U.S. 202 interchange.
