The Pew Charitable Trusts just parked $135,000 at The Garage Community & Youth Centers in Kennett Square and West Grove.

The biggest grant in the community center’s history will help fund its programs for three years, according to a Southern Chester County Weeklies report by Fran Maye.

“I think it’s a testament to all the work we have done for the kids over the years,” Executive Director Kristin Proto said in the article. “… Pew’s support of The Garage validates both The Garage’s necessity and impact on our community. By investing in The Garage, Pew is partnering with us to invest in one of the most vulnerable populations in our community.”

The Garage draws on 80 volunteers to serve more than 400 students on a weekly basis with free tutoring, mentoring, community service opportunities, computer lab use, youth groups and enrichment activities.
