Chester County Working Up a Sweat for Worksite Wellness
It’s a true sign of a top competitor: one of the nation’s healthiest counties is working up a sweat to help local businesses get in better shape by exercising a state grant that’s providing free worksite wellness programs.
The Chester County Health Department is acting as trainer to assess, equip and motivate businesses to get going on worksite wellness programs like healthy cooking demonstrations, raised garden beds, massage therapy, biometric screenings, topical health seminars and more.
“The addition of a results-driven wellness program is one of the most effective ways that a business can help its employees adopt healthier lifestyles while decreasing healthcare costs, rates of absenteeism and worksite stress,” Director Jeanne Casner said in a recent Daily Local News staff report.
The worksite wellness money comes from the state Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant.
