Chester County and Constellation, a leading retail supplier of power, have completed their project to implement $5.9 million in energy and water conservation measures that are expected to provide $6.7 million in energy and water cost savings over the next fifteen years.

According to data from the US Environmental Protection Agency, the measures are also expected eliminate the creation of over 1,500 tons of carbon dioxide each year, which is the equivalent of removing 319 passenger vehicles from the road.

“Through our strategic plan’s focus on the environment, we have already taken great strides to reduce energy usage within county-owned buildings,” said Chester County Commissioners’ Chair, Terence Farrell. He added that the project reflects the county’s continued commitment to the good of the environment through the implementation of water and energy saving measures, with the added benefit of bringing a monetary return to the county.
