Army Veteran and DCCC Student Plays Carnegie Hall

Phillip Lee Dickerson, an army veteran and Respiratory Therapy major at Delaware County Community College, was one of 24 young musicians selected to play the stage at Carnegie Hall as part of the Philadelphia Music Teachers Association’s annual recital on April 9th. Dickerson, who had to put his love of music on hold when he enlisted, enrolled at the College in January 2013 reigniting his passion with courses in musical composition.

Survey Shows Pennsylvania Budget Impasse Hurt Social Services

Results of a new survey show that non-profit organizations that provide social services in the state, still owe interest on loans taken out due to the extended budget stalemate. The survey of 176 non-profits showed that they have not filled or reinstated almost half of the 380 full-time positions eliminated or impacted from the budget fight.

AAA Honors Chester County Elementary Students

Three Chester County elementary students were among the 10 students honored by AAA Mid-Atlantic and The Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education as Outstanding School Safety Patrol Members for the 2015-2016 school year. Colin Drummund, Catherine Merriman, and Gavin Snyder were recognized at the event last Thursday in New Castle, and received a Visa Gift Card and plaque in recognition of their work.
