Residents of Chester County have always been generous with volunteering their time and talent to help the entire community thrive, and thanks to Family Service of Chester County and RSVP, they now have two new programs to help them channel their efforts in the best possible way.

Family Service of Chester County has launched the Volunteer Chester County program which helps volunteers match their skills and interests with the needs of nonprofits, schools, and hospitals. The new program, which started on April 1, expands the volunteer opportunities previously offered by RSVP of Chester County and offers them to a wider group of volunteers of all ages.

“We believe that everyone will benefit by providing a central place for volunteers of all ages to explore and connect with volunteer opportunities at nonprofits with a broad range of missions,” said Burroughs P. Mack, Executive Director of FSCC.

RSVP, formerly known as RSVP of Montgomery County, will expand their operations to the area, starting with working as the new administrator of the RSVP program in Chester County that offers volunteering opportunities to adults aged 55 and over.

RSVP volunteers will have the opportunity to tutor students in grades K-4 in literacy and high school students in math, as well as give exciting STEM career presentations to students, deliver Meals on Wheels, and use their professional business skills to assist in building the capacity of local nonprofits.

“We are thrilled to have received this grant and to provide support to those senior residents interested in giving back to the community through these important programs,” commented Jacqui Baxter, RSVP’s Director of Community Engagement.
