Trump’s Victory Speech Seems Straight Out of QVC, Says the New York Times

Donald Trump has become quite good at plugging his businesses during his victory speeches in the primaries, and according to the New York Times his skills have now risen to the point where he can match some of QVC’s best hosts.

Trump’s campaign has been having a bad week, with two significant losses to Senator Ted Cruz on Saturday in Kansas and Maine, and several missteps followed by renewed questionings about the strength of his political organization. He was in need of a strong showing at yesterday’s primaries, and he got it.

Once more he demonstrated his appeal to white working-class voters in Michigan, a state he has claimed he could take in the general election, and he managed to beat back strong challenges from Governor John Kasich and from Cruz in Mississippi.

“Mr. Trump, plugging several of his business interests in a victory speech that seemed straight out of QVC, crowed about having prevailed despite what he called millions of dollars’ worth of “horrible lies” in negative ads from his rivals,” writes Patrick Healy and Jonathan Martin for the New York Times.

Speaking at one of his golf resorts in Jupiter, Florida, Trump went on to say that “there’s only one person who did well tonight! Donald Trump.” Talking about Cruz, Trump continued by commenting “He’s always saying, ‘I’m the only one that can beat Trump“ not forgetting to add,  “He rarely beats me.”
