The Brandywine Health Foundation is inviting community members to nominate a deserving Chester County resident to receive the Eastburn Community Service Award. The new award will be given out annually in memory of Jane and Al Eastburn, two local non-profit leaders who served the Coatesville area with distinction.

The award was established by the Brandywine Health Foundation this year with the help and initial funding from Dallas Krapf and the Krapf Bus Co. to honor Jane and Al Eastburn for their service to the area. The Eastburn’s have had huge impact on the region through their decade’s long leadership of various boards and community organizations, among them the Brandywine Hospital, the Visiting Nurses Association, the Coatesville Area Public Library, and the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry.

The award will be presented to the person who is currently, or has previously, given back to the Coatesville community by making a positive impact through their time, energy, and expertise. Philanthropic support is considered an added benefit, but is not the most important factor.

The priority when deciding the winner, will be those who help or support non-profits in the Coatesville community, volunteer their time and talents in the Coatesville area, and serve as mentors in order to help develop future volunteer leaders in the community. A positive outlook on the future of the Coatesville community and perseverance through any challenges and setbacks will also be among the deciding factors.

The deadline for submissions is March 31st. The selected winner will be notified on April 30th, when they will be asked to designate a non-profit from the area which will be awarded a grant of $2,500. The presentation of the award and the grant will be held on May 25th at the Brandywine Health Foundation’s Garden Party.
