There’s a real-life place in Chester County that helps people facing dark troubles dare to make their dreams come true, and on a special Saturday night in early April, it will look a lot like the magical Land of Oz.

The 40th anniversary celebration of the nonprofit Domestic Violence Center of Chester County will transform West Chester’s Penn Oaks Golf Club into that dreamy place somewhere over the rainbow and seek to generate enough fundraising activity to help local residents melt their troubles like lemon drops.

The goal is to raise $75,000 for more of the DVCCC’s free-of-charge intervention, education, outreach, advocacy and programs that aim to prevent, reduce and remedy domestic violence in Chester County — especially dating violence, this year’s special focus — through the DVCCC offices in West Chester, Kennett Square, Oxford, Coatesville and Phoenixville.

Leading distinguished guests down that yellow-brick road will be Mistress of Ceremonies Tracy Davidson, a longtime DVCCC supporter and Emmy Award-winning broadcast journalist who anchors for NBC10 News.

“Over the Rainbow” is coming Saturday, April 9, from 7 to 11 p.m., with a whirlwind of a cocktail reception followed by a gourmet sit-down dinner and dancing.  Music and entertainment will be provided by the Vince Brown Band and Ari the Magician. Guests will also be able to bid on DVCCC’s unique auction items.
