Real Estate with a Malvern Community Connection

By

When the real estate team of Alison Saunders and Chuck Barbera opened their new RE/MAX Fine Homes office in Malvern, they took their mission to be a vital part of the community to an entirely higher plane.

Building on the success of their Wayne office, the agency co-owners purchased a landmark former bank building at 409 Lancaster Avenue, across from Covenant Presbyterian Church. While preserving the bank’s signature characteristics, they incorporated the atmosphere of the Wayne agency, that’s designed to make clients feel at home and at ease.

“For instance,” says Saunders, “we kept the bank’s drive-up window but converted the vault into a conference room and lounge, and transformed the safety deposit box towers into modern work space. Because of its open-concept design, the new office is a perfect place to host events, meetings, and training seminars, allowing our business to easily blend into the fabric of the community.” The transformation was completed in January.

The new office expands RE/MAX Fine Homes’ service area to the western Main Line and surrounding communities. “Historically, Malvern has been an underserved real estate market,” says Saunders.

“Now, it’s experiencing a surge in new construction and development, coinciding with a revitalization of the business community and housing market.” Case in point: a new townhome community is under construction right next to the new Malvern office.

Saunders and Barbera, who are also a married couple, know Malvern well. They’ve lived in town for 16 years. Barbera has been a local resident his entire life and attended Great Valley High School. Their children are graduates of the Great Valley School System. They’re personally familiar with everything Malvern and surrounding towns have to offer.

“We definitely embrace the concept of ‘live where you work and work where you live,’” says Saunders. “Some real estate agencies are all about transactions. We’re really the hometown people, the small business that’s a valued resource and member of the community.”

Despite the agency’s name, the agents of RE/MAX Fine Homes have a broad definition of what constitutes “fine” homes, believing that they exist in all sizes, shapes and price ranges. The agency’s agents are full-time, experienced professionals who are involved in the community and can handle every aspect of a real estate transaction.

They work with all types of clients, be they first-time homebuyers, or residents who are re-locating, upsizing, downsizing, or handling an estate sale. Additionally, all clients benefit from the agency’s professional pricing guidance, home staging, and photography, among other services.

“We’re focused on building relationships,” says Barbera. “Repeat business is at the core of everything we do. We want our clients to have a good experience, so they’ll return to seek our services and refer us to their friends and neighbors. Maintaining and growing our relationships is absolutely key to the success of our business.”
