The financial community, family and friends are mourning the loss of a great business leader and pillar of the local community following the announcement on Monday that DNB Financial Corp’s beloved Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, William S. Latoff, has died. Latoff passed away, aged 67, after battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer since he was diagnosed with the terrible illness last year, writes the Daily Local News.

“It is with great sadness that we learned this morning of Bill Latoff’s passing,” said DNB’s President William J. Hieb. “Bill has served as CEO of DNB Financial Corporation since 2004 and, through his vision and leadership, did so much to build and strengthen our company. Never satisfied with business and financial success alone, Bill’s generosity and concern for others were the driving force behind DNB First’s deep commitment to our community. All of us at DNB will miss him greatly, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Mary, and family.”

Latoff took his position as a Director of Downingtown based DNB Financial Corporation eighteen years ago, leading the company in exemplary manner ever since.  He also strived to be deeply involved in the community as a Director and former Chairman of the Chester County Industrial Development Authority as well as Chairman of the Chester County Library Trust Board and a board member for the Chester County Economic Development Council.

Many people and officials outside of the financial community also expressed their sorrow on hearing the news of Latoff’s passing.

“Bill was a long-time pillar of the Chester County business and charitable community,” said State Representative Ryan Costello. “He was a good friend to so many, and he will be missed.”

Latoff was recently honored with the Chester County Historical Society’s Founder’s Award and received the 2014 Hall of Fame award from the Foundation for Catholic Education Supporting Chester County. In 2015, he received the Chester County Council Boy Scouts of America’s Distinguished Citizens Award.

Superintendent of the Downingtown Area School District, Lawrence Mussoline, also expressed his sadness at the news saying that “Bill Latoff was one of the finest gentlemen I ever knew, professional beyond reproach, upstanding beyond compare, unparalleled in his commitment to his community and work. This is a terrible loss to not only Bill’s family but to our entire area.”
