Former college and pro football players and leaders are lining up in Chester County to go head to head against the growing concussion problem in sports, and they have a new play that promises to score big in all levels of the game and well beyond.

Chester Springs-based Defend Your Head has a star-studded leadership team, a standout product in its new Protech custom foam helmet shell, and significant traction in the market.

“We have over 125 programs placing orders next year for personal testing and practices,” CEO John Roman, once a New York Jets lineman, said in a Philadelphia Business Journal report. “We are convinced once players wear the product, they will really see the difference. … Our goal is for every youth player in our market to have a Protech.”

While a predecessor pioneered the protective shell with little success, Defend Your Head believes the Protech has finally found a look that players embrace. And if readily adopted, it will offer players much, much more than style points. Years after playing, Roman and his team see the real effects of traumatic brain injuries.

“This is a passion of mine,” Roman said in the article. “The ‘Concussion‘ movie hit home for me what we are doing here. If they paid me nothing, I would work this job for free.”
