The quest to quench Chester County’s thirst these days may lead straight to Phoenixville, the “mini-mecca” whose creative juices are flowing into a myriad of alcoholic hotspots that are making it “Pennsylvania’s newest and most impressive small-batch sensation,” Main Line Today declared in a recent feature by Ken Alan.

The rising borough is making a name for itself with a diverse mix of beer, wine, ale, spirits, hard cider, creative cocktails and tasty appetizers at a number of must-experience venues.

Among them is the Barrel, “a blue-collar wine bar serving wine flights and craft-made mixed drinks,” Co-Owner Matt Dellose said in the article, and Stable 12 Brewing Co., another Bridge Street staple in a transformed auto repair shop.

“We’re still settling in, but our formula is working,” Co-Owner Rick Wolf said. “It’s just taken a lot of grain, glasses, growlers and kegs to get us to this point.”

There’s also the 21st-century saloon at Bluebird Distilling, fine dining at Sly Fox Brewhouse & Eatery and Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, wines fresh from the vine at Black Walnut Winery and the Sand Castle Winery’s Taste Phoenixville store, and a world of flavors at Blue Marble Cysery.

As if that wasn’t enough, dozens of additional beer recipes will soon be on tap at the soon-to-open Chatty Monks Brewing Co., coming to Main Street this spring.
