Aetna Introduces its New Medicare Plan in Three Counties

1375727565000-AETNA-1308051826_4_3Aetna announced on Tuesday that it is partnering with Main Line Health to introduce its new Aetna Medicare Advantage plan aimed at senior adults in Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties, with a $12 monthly premium.

The Aetna Medicare Main Line Health Prime Plan is the first time the Connecticut based health insurer has rolled out a co-branded Medicare plan with another healthcare provider in the Philadelphia region. The new product will give its beneficiaries access to coordinated care throughout Main Line Health’s network, their affiliated physicians and other health care providers at in-network rates.

The aim for the new plan is to provide Aetna Medicare Advantage Prime members, especially those with conditions that are chronic or complex, better options for more coordinated care from Main Line Health and affiliate providers. One of the key benefits should be a significantly improved flow of information to treating physicians with the providers assisted by Aetna nurse case managers in care coordination, outreach and follow-up services.

There are additional benefits to the providers as well, as the new plan will reward successful population management along with improving overall health care while at the same time reducing some of the costs.

“We are pleased to offer Medicare beneficiaries a new, $12 monthly premium plan that emphasizes care coordination and provider collaboration,” said Laurie Brubaker, Market President for Aetna. “Main Line Health doctors and other health care professionals will work closely with us to help provide each member with a personalized and coordinated health care experience at a $12 monthly premium, which is an incredible value.”

This plan will first become available during this fall’s Medicare annual enrollment period, and will become fully active in the targeted counties from January next year
