070315LEDObamacare Ruling Encourages Hospitals to Convert to LED Lighting

On June 25, the US Supreme Court ruled that the federal subsidies that help over 6 million Americans pay for healthcare insurance are legal under the Affordable Care Act

What the Justices did not consider, was that the energy health of hospitals, clinics, and administrative buildings would also be affected by their decision, which has turned into a significant additional benefit.

The day after the ruling, a leading healthcare provider told Independence LED, based in Wayne, that they are going to move forward on a proposed LED retrofit as a result of this decision. The federal subsidies give the healthcare provider the resources and financial confidence to invest in Independence’s LED technology.

Charlie Szoradi, CEO of Independence LED noted, “We are pleased to see that this new ruling helps healthcare providers move forward with energy intelligent lighting retrofits.”

Now is the time to apply for the Coatesville Youth Initiative’s Brandywine Watershed Discovery Camp for students from grades six to eight.

Launched in 2012, the Brandywine Trek was created to provide an opportunity for youth from the Coatesville area to connect with their peers and to develop life and leadership skills.

The curriculum for the camp includes environmental, science, history and cultural educational activities as well as field trips and team-building activities. The camp takes place from July 13th to 17th between 9am and 4pm.

Jarvis Berry, CYI community mobilizer notes, “Providing the Trek camp to middle school students allows us to provide a much needed activity to the population that is most vulnerable during the summer. It also allows us to impact youth at an earlier age, which research shows is critical for long term, positive youth development“.
