The opportunistic Wayne-based network of industrial suppliers and distributors has built up multiple billions of dollars in momentum, and its success will soon flow to independent plumbing wholesalers in Canada.

Affiliated Distributors is merging with the Canaplus Limited Partnership buying group to form its newest division, AD Canada Plumbing & Heating. The deal becomes effective Jan. 1, 2016.

“AD’s strategy of operating in multiple industries and countries has brought numerous benefits to our members and suppliers, including: stronger relationships, enhanced best practice sharing and new services,” Chairman and CEO Bill Weisberg said in an Industrial Distribution report. “As we look to the future, we believe that AD is uniquely positioned to help independents and suppliers grow and prosper in an age of increased consolidation, globalization and channel convergence.”

Canaplus’ 23 members, which enjoy substantial market share across Canada from 250 business locations, will join a proven leader that already commands $31 billion in annual sales of bearings and power transmission parts; building materials; electrical supplies; HVAC equipment; industrial tools; pipes, valves and fittings; and plumbing supplies.

“The members are Canadian-owned and operated entrepreneurs, local market leaders focused on a strong service perspective that complements AD values and global scope to create a winning environment for independent distribution,” President of Plumbing, PVF and HVAC Divisions Jeffrey Beall added in the article.

AD has previously wired up with Canadian electricians in 1993 and 2012 mergers.
