There’s the love song, the breakup song, the party song–all kinds of different song archetypes that everyone knows. Infrequently mentioned, however, are the business songs. They’re the songs that help you feel good about getting things done. And since it’s Thursday we thought we’d send some productive vibes your way. Enjoy.

The classic that started them all. BTO’s “Takin’ Care of Business” is the first song that comes to mind when you’re knee deep in that expense report at the end of the month.

It’s Business Time

The Australian comedy duo Flight of The Conchords are bringing it all home with their jam “Business Time”. They may or may not be talking about actual business…we’ll leave that up to you to decide. One thing is for sure, we know what you’ll be humming when you’re pouring your first cup of coffee tomorrow.

Talking Heads: “Don’t Worry About the Government”

“My building has every convenience / it’s going to make life easy for me / it’s going to be easy to get things done” sings David Byrne on this Talking Heads deep cut. It may be a little ironic (it wouldn’t be a Talking Heads song if it were not a little unhinged), but it’s a positive song with a great hook. Onward to Friday!
