Half a dozen blasts of colored powder washed over the 776 participants in the United Way of Chester County’s second annual Live United in Color 5K fun run and walk on Sunday, and at the end of the rainbow of color was more than $30,000 for the 70-plus community programs supported by the UWCC.

The event’s signature colored corn starch powder has become a safe staple at vastly popular similar celebrations across the country. In Caln Township, it attracted supporters of all ages, including parents who carried young children through the race course, the Daily Local News reported.

Though not quite as large as the 900-strong inaugural run, this year’s 5K raised more money than the $25,000 given a year ago.
