History is once again coming alive for the Pottstown faithful and music lovers across Chester County, as an exciting new rock star investor has come to town to liven up the rare pre-World War II stage at the Historic Sunnybrook Ballroom.

The Gulati family, the “white knight” that resurrected Stokesay Castle near Reading, has partnered with the Sunnybrook Foundation to bring at least $3 million for a facelift of the ballroom, restaurant and lounge, as well as the addition of kitchen and meeting space, according to a Daily Local News report.

“This is quite an exciting time,” new General Manager Luis Pereira said in the article. “We are all looking forward to this new opportunity and working with the SunnyBrook Foundation to make sure that we bring an amazing experience to Pottstown and make the facility a destination for visitors from all over.”

Though it has continued to host notable shows — and everything scheduled will go on — Sunnybrook has stagnated in recent years and needed help with the day-to-day operations and maintenance.

“We couldn’t go any further with Sunnybrook with the finances, and we needed somebody else to come in and take it to the next level,” Board President J. Wilmer Hallman said. “Whether you use the words ‘saving Sunnybrook’ or ‘expanding Sunnybrook to the grandeur that it should be,’ that’s where we are.”
