Dream Home Built By Paoli Foundry Owner Up For Sale

Decades ago, the owner of Paoli’s Country Iron Foundry crafted a retreat from his sweltering factory work in the cool breezes and vast ocean views of an oversized, ultra exclusive lot on New Jersey’s southern shore. Now that prime piece of real estate is looking for its next owner — and asking one of the entire state’s highest prices.
“It’s like something you’d expect to see in Nantucket, Hyannis Port or Maine,” listing agent Travis Marshall of Long & Foster Real Estate said in a recent feature for the Press of Atlantic City. “The privacy level here is unparalleled at the Jersey Shore.”
At $8.25 million on beachfront property measuring 125 feet by 245 feet in the High Dunes section of Avalon, the home boasts five bedrooms and more than 5,000 square feet, including a wraparound deck overlooking the massive sand dunes and largely undisturbed maritime forest that envelopes the property.
“It was always a great place to get away from stuff for a long weekend. It was like an oasis,” said John Song, son of current homeowner Myung Song, in the article.
The interior of Don Stoughton’s creation “leans more toward early American. Exposed wood ceilings, walls, rafters and beams are found throughout the house, even in the bedrooms. The barn-style doors are made of rough-hewn cedar, and the floors are random-width clear oak planks secured with pegs instead of nails. There are vaulted ceilings, two massive wood-burning fireplaces and a custom country kitchen with hand-painted cabinets and skylights,” the article stated.
