The Internet’s paragon of search engine privacy is now a public supporter of gender diversity, thanks to a generous investment of $25,000 into a national women’s tech education nonprofit with roots in Philadelphia.

Paoli-based DuckDuckGo recently announced Girl Develop It as the recipient of one of five corporate grants focused on bolstering privacy and open source development efforts, according to a Technical.ly Philly report this week.

The donation targets ‘Girl Develop It’ Summer of Open Source Fellowship, a program piloted in Philadelphia that pairs women with mentors to work on open source projects over the course of a summer,” the article stated.

With the help of DuckDuckGo, that fellowship will expand to other cities across the nation this summer.
